SCIENCE: UNIT 6. LESSON 2

ACTIVITIES

  • Pages 70, 71, 72 and 73.
  • Read the information and build a simple machine. You can follow the same steps as the book, or others. At the end, it should do  a function. Simple machines: pulley, wheel and axle, lever and wedge. 
  • Record a video explaining the process, uses and what it does. Send the video to: carmenizquierdo@colegioays.com
  • LAST DAY: 17th of June.

✳️After creating your simple machine, you must record yourself on video explaining how you have built it and what it can be used for, showing an example. Remember to record yourself in English. Last day to send me your project: 17th of june.
 ✳️Después de crear tu máquina simple, debes grabarte en vídeo explicando cómo lo has construído y para qué se usa, mostrando un ejemplo. Recuerda grabarte en Inglés. Último día para enviarme vuestro proyecto: 17 de junio.

SCIENCE: UNIT 6. LESSON 1

Today we are going to start a new Unit called "WHAT IS A SIMPLE MACHINE?". 



ACTIVITIES

  1. Listen to the song "simple machines".
  2. Watch the documentary: "Incredible inventions".
  3. Answer the questions.
  • Pages 68 and 69.
  1. Read the information in page 68.
  2. Study the vocabulary:"inclined plane" and "screw". 
  3. Try at home making an inclined plane and a screw (page 69).
✳️Next week, I will explain you the final project for this UNIT 6. You will have to create a SIMPLE MACHINE at home and you must record it and explain how it works. (Next week you will receive the instructions.) At the moment, you can start thinking about it.

1. What are the three states of matter?
2. Which is the odd one out: water, milk or chocolate?Explain why.

5.Which types of energy come from the sun?
6. Can you name three machines that use electrical energy?

  1. We put four fingers of milk in a glass.
  2. We ask an adult for help and cut a lemon in half.
  3. We squeeze the lemon in other glass.
  4. We pour the squeezed lemon into the glass with milk. What do you think will happen?

On May 17, World Recycling Day is celebrating with the aim of raising awareness in society about the importance of trating waste properly, so as not  to contribute to climate change, and protect the environment.

UNIT 5. CAN YOU HELP SAVE THE PLANET?

Now we are going to see two videos of the three states of matter. 






ACTIVITY 1

Once you have watched the videos, open the electronic resources (https://www.blinklearning.com/login) and read pages 56 and 57 while you are listening to the audio. 

ACTIVITY 2


  • Write a list of al the things that use water, for example having a shower and washing the dishes. Write at least 8 things. Do it in the English notebook.
(Escribe una lista de todas las cosas que usan agua, por ejemplo, ducharse y lavar los platos. Escribe mínimo 8 cosas. Hazlo en la libreta de Inglés.)

Today I have prepared a craft about the photosynthesis.

I am going to show you some examples. You have to create your own craft about the process called "photosynthesis".

You must be CREATIVE!!!!

You can use different materials that you have at home.

Finally, you can tell  the process to your family  in English.
